Billie Lourd shares the 'reality' of breastfeeding her 9-month-old son in intimate new photo
Breastfeeding may seem like a serene moment between mother and child, but it's harder than it looks. Just ask actress and new mom Billie Lourd, who posted two shots of her nursing son Kingston to highlight the contrast between expectations and reality.
In the first black and white image, the 28-year-old star blissfully gazes down at her 9-month-old son as he nurses and lovingly rests his hand on her upper chest.
The second shot, however, shows Lourd wincing in apparent pain as her wriggly baby latches on, limbs akimbo.
"Instagram vs. reality of breastfeeding a 9-mont-old," Lourd, daughter of the late writer and Star Wars actress Carrie Fisher, quipped.
Kingston, who was born last September, is Lourd's first child with fiancé Austen Rydell. The couple kept their baby news under wraps until his birth, with the new mom explaining to Good Morning America that, while he was conceived before the pandemic hit, being able to keep her pregnancy under wraps was a "blessing in disguise."
"Everyone was so surprised when we posted that little picture of his feet, and it got to just be something I shared with the people I loved the most, which was so incredible and made my pregnancy so magical and wonderful," she added.
