Blake Lively is the latest celeb to come under a hypercritical lens for her social media activity—but her fans aren't having it.
The Gossip Girl alum took to Instagram on Dec. 17, 2023, to show off her fitting 'fit for a reunion with her Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants co-stars at a screening of America Ferrera's Barbie.
For the occasion, she wore a hot pink mini-dress with a feathered skirt, matching gloves, and pumps. She accessorized with a glittering bow-tie-shaped clutch, a pair of large emerald rings and matching earrings, and coordinated her lipstick to the rest of it. She added a calf-length blazer coat to the mix before heading out.
"loud luxury," she captioned the fashionable snaps, which were undeniably loud and luxurious.
Fans were practically drooling over the eye-popping look, with one dubbing her, "Blake LOVELY."
"Quiet luxury? Don’t know her ?? ?? ya look frikkin fireeee," another wrote.
"POV: Serena van der Woodsen’s camera roll," someone else observed.
But some took the opportunity to demand a comment on the ongoing situation in the Middle East, with one person calling the post "absolutely tone deaf and disappointing" and another wondering, "I’m curious how you have not said one word?"
Followers were quick to jump to her defense, with one writing, "why? Because she chooses to love life through fashion? Do you not have any avenue of expressing love for life? And if your opinion has to do with a certain political situation happening in Israel/Palestine, there are always things going on in the world. If you’re here commenting to spread negativity you’re only contributing to it."
Another wrote, "Is this your first day here? She does tons of good works and charitable deeds. This is how she earns the money that enables her to do those things for others. Don’t like it, don’t follow her."
"Some people choose to be loud and others choose to act quietly," another commented. "Being political on social media can come with a lot of back lash, so she chooses to support without having that negativity. Not every person or celebrity needs to broadcast their stance on politics on social media. There are celebrities out there who post one, maybe two times a year on social media but are incredibly active in the political arena."
For what it's worth, Lively and her husband, Ryan Reynolds, reportedly donated $1 million to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in October, intended “to help children in Israel and Gaza.”
