Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds Announce They've Donated $1 Million for Coronavirus Relief
Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds made a $1 million donation to help others during the coronavirus pandemic—and joined many other celebrities in urging people to social distance. Lively and Reynolds gave to Feeding America and Food Banks Canada. "Covid-19 has brutally impacted older adults and low income families," Lively explained. "Ryan & I are donating $1 million to be split between @feedingamerica and @foodbankscanada. If you can give, these orgs need our help."
She also emphasized the importance of quarantining during this time but staying connected digitally: "Though we must be distancing ourselves to protect those who don’t have the opportunity to self quarantine, we can stay connected," she continued. "Remember the lonely and isolated. FaceTime, Skype, make a video. Remember the love that can travel through all this. Communities are stepping up—shopping for the elderly, making lunches for children. We can all do something for one another, even if that’s simply staying home. ??"
She ended her post light-heartedly, adding a bonus message to Reynolds: "Sending so much love. Now can someone please tell Ryan that 'emotional distancing' from his mother in law is not a thing. Nothing can save him. ??"
Reynolds posted a similar message on his own IG but published no response to Lively's joke. He made a joke about Hugh Jackman instead:
On her Instagram Story, Lively posted about organizations where healthy people can volunteer to deliver groceries to those more vulnerable who can't go out. "Please share others like this in your area," she wrote when posting about Invisible Hands in New York City. "Let's all spread the word of where people can go for a helping hand."
