Bourbon and Hard Pear Cider Cocktail
Southern Living Staff
Updated
Two kinds of simple syrup (a classic sugar and water combination, and a delicious Honey Simple Syrup) come together to produce one sweet and smooth Bourbon and Hard Pear Cider Cocktail. We love the addition of fresh Bartlett pear to up the seasonality of this sipper. We don’t specify which bourbon to use, so just select your favorite or any variety that you may have on hand. As for the hard pear cider, we suggest using Sonoma “The Pitchfork” Pear Cider, but any variety you choose should work also. Serve our Bourbon and Hard Pear Cider Cocktail as the signature cocktail at your holiday open house, or bring the ingredients to mix up on site at your next tailgate. You’ll need a cocktail shaker and a set of highball glasses for serving. If you’re taking this cocktail to the tailgate, an 8 oz. insulated tumbler is a great (and break-proof) option. When you’re preparing this recipe, be sure to factor in the time it will take to make the two simple syrups. They’ll each take about 35 minutes, but require little hands-on time so you should be able to prepare both at the same time without your stovetop getting too hectic.
