Britney Spears Reportedly Separates From Husband Sam Asghari
After only 14 months of marriage, Britney Spears has reportedly separated from husband Sam Asghari.
TMZ broke the news, with a source alleging that a fight between the couple led to Asghari moving out of the pop star's Thousand Oaks home in California. He is said to have already found a new place, where he is living on his own. A source also told the outlet that "it's only a matter of time before Sam files for divorce."
A source also spoke to ET, noting, "Britney and Sam have had ups and downs throughout their relationship. They have a lot of love for each other, but they also argue a lot over fundamental issues. Sometimes they feel as though each other's needs aren't being completely met. Recently, things took a bad turn and their arguments became more serious and real."
Parade has reached out to Spears and Asghari's reps for comment, but have not heard back.
The news comes three months after multiple sources told TMZ that the singer's marriage to the model and fitness trainer was on the rocks, with them allegedly frequently having "blowout fights" with "screaming matches."
Spears is said to have a prenup, protecting her assets from Asghari after the end of her conservatorship.
The singer and Asghari married on June 9, 2022 in a lavish wedding at her estate, accompanied by 60 guests, including Madonna, Selena Gomez, Paris Hilton and Drew Barrymore, among others.
They met on the set of Spears' music video for the song "Slumber Party," which was released on November 18, 2016. Five months after meeting and exchanging numbers at the shoot, Spears reached out.
"I think we were shooting and we were doing this scene where I was doing the walk scene through the hall to go through the door to go to the bedroom, and we were sitting there and we were waiting and waiting together for 20 minutes at a time," Spears explained during an appearance on AMP 103.7's Fast in the Morning with Nathan Fast and Sybil Summers in 2017.
She added, "So we were basically forced to talk to each other and he has no idea — I mean, he knows my name — but he doesn't know me as a person. He's like 'What is this girl like?' and I have no idea who the hell he is."
Spears' marriage to Asghari was her third. She married childhood friend Jason Alexander in January 2004 in Las Vegas, but annulled their matrimony 55 hours after the ceremony. Eight months later, she married dancer Kevin Federline; they had two children, Jayden and Sean Preston. Spears and Federline divorced in 2007, and he has since remarried.
