This Cafe in Korea Will Make You Feel Like You Just Walked Into a Comic Book
For those who have ever watched a cartoon and wondered what it would be like to step into that world, a recently-opened cafe in South Korea now allows for just that.
The tiny Cafe Yeonnam-dong 239-20 (called YND239-20 in English), is located in an unassuming brick building in Mapu-gu in Seoul, South Korea.
Visitors can spot the cafe by its white gate and a tiny cutout home that sits in front of it, giving a slight taste of what they’ll find once inside.
The entire shop is outfitted in black and white designs that have been carefully crafted to make customers feel as though they’ve just stepped into a drawing, with everything from the tables to the chairs outlined in black and white to maintain the theme.

The cafe's owners created the quirky space to give customers this exact sense of walking into a cartoon and incite a sense of nostalgia, representatives from the cafe told Travel + Leisure.
The idea has worked, drawing in customers from around the world who come to photograph its one-of-a-kind design.

Named after its address, the space opened in South Korea a year-and-a-half ago and includes just eight seats inside and nine seats in its outdoor balcony area.
Open throughout the week (except for Mondays) from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., the cafe serves specialty drinks and small bites in its cozy space.

Even its cups are created with the same black and white design to look like someone drew them right on the spot, with the cafe’s design extended into its bathroom as well.

The design of the cafe has been so successful since its opening that its owners are now looking to open similar franchises in other countries down the line.
Visitors will want to note that the space does not accept reservations and can get crowded, so it may take a few minutes to snap that perfect picture once inside.
