Obsessed with California-Cool Interiors? You're Going to Want to Know This Designer
Katie Hodges never thought of herself as a creative. But when she took on a job as a personal assistant while studying speech language pathology in college, her boss’s home renovation became a turning point. “I was in complete awe of what the architect, contractor, and clients created,” Hodges recalls of the project. She soon found herself relishing any work that involved site visits, orders, or sampling for the home. And her boss took note: “She recognized me for the closet creative I was,” laughs Hodges.
Fast forward a few years, and Hodges had started Katie Hodges Design, a design-build firm which marries Hodges’ love for her hometown and deep interest in the construction process—as well as what the designer calls a deft ability to work across distinct decor styles. “My style is deeply rooted in the feel of California,” she says. “But every project has a unique story.”
