Calling All Gen Xers: Dogfish Head Is Teaming Up with the Flaming Lips to Make Pink Beer
We’ve got pink vodka, pink lettuce, pink cider and the O.G. pink wine. Now, Dogfish Head Brewery is giving us pink craft beer, because we all kind of asked for it.
This is the Delaware brewery’s fourth year as the official beer of Record Store Day, and in honor of the occasion, it has dreamed up Dragons & YumYums, a psychedelic pink beer collab with iconic alt-rock band the Flaming Lips.
The drink has a blush color and is brewed with dragon fruit, passion fruit, pear juice, black carrot juice and something called yumberry (which, it turns out, is a real thing). According to the brewery, the pale ale is light-bodied with a balanced sweetness...and we’d try it. Just saying.
Flaming Lips front man Wayne Coyne also wrote two new songs, “The Story of Yum Yum and Dragon” and “Pouring Beer in Your Ear,” in honor of the brew. And as if that weren’t enough, Dragons & YumYums-filled translucent vinyl records will be available in celebration of Record Store Day on April 21.
The pink brew will be available April through August, just in time for the dream of the ’90s to come alive in your refrigerator.
