Camila Cabello soaks up the sun in a cheeky yellow bikini
Camila Cabello is soaking up the sun.
The "Havana" singer, 25, who has frequently spoken about her struggles with body confidence, took to Instagram on Friday to post a series of photos of herself at the beach catching some rays in a yellow and black bikini.
"Sigue f***** bailando," the former Fifth Harmony singer captioned the photo set, which translates to "keep dancing." Cabello paired her colorful bikini with a pair of black sunglasses and a gold plated necklace that read "Pisces." Hamming it up for the camera in a series of poses, Cabello zoomed in on everything from her chest to her backside as she posed for the camera.
Cabello hasn't always felt so joyful at the beach. Back in April, she admitted she still struggles with insecurity when she's photographed wearing a bikini. In a personal note to fans posted to Instagram, Cabello discussed how she is regularly "papped" at a Miami beach club, where she was enjoying a day by the water. But having paparazzi there left her feeling "super-vulnerable and unprepared," even though she had a "whole f***in' cute outfit" to show off. Instead of enjoying herself, she spent a significant amount of time "self-conscious" and worrying about how the photos the paparazzi took would depict her body.
"I held my core so tight my abs hurt and didn't breathe and barely smiled and was so self-conscious of where the paps were the whole time I couldn't let go and relax and do what we're meant to do when we go out in nature," the Grammy nominee shared. "I tried to pretend they weren't there but I couldn't and I held my breath from my sun chair to the ocean. ... I knew I looked 'good' in the pictures and thought I would feel accomplished and yet I've never had a worse time at the beach. I felt the emptiness and sadness of our culture's thoughts that became my thoughts."
In the August cover story for Cosmopolitan U.K., Cabello explained that the constant presence of the paparazzi on the beach is "really uncomfortable." While she has become increasingly used to her stardom, she admitted that "there are varying degrees of discomfort [with fame]."
"I was in the ocean and there were six [photographers] four feet away from me. It was so wrong and just weird. [But] I adjust. I don’t go to those places any more or put myself in vulnerable situations like that," the “Bam Bam” singer said. "It’s fine, I don’t feel like people are going to be interested in my body forever.’
Cabello has been open about the work she puts in to manage her anxiety and OCD symptoms, which she has lived with since she was a teenager. Cabello shared that she relies on therapy to maintain her mental health. She also finds it beneficial to reveal herself in her music, even though it can leave her with a bit of a "vulnerability hangover." Despite this struggle, people are always responsive to her openness.
"Every single time I’ve been vulnerable, someone has said, ‘That’s not weird, that’s totally normal,’” Cabello shared.
