Caribbean: Great boutique hotels in holiday packages
The Caribbean dream of beachside huts and eating lobster from wooden tables may not come easily with the large resorts that have mushroomed over certain stretches of the islands’ coastlines. For how long have you sought authentic Caribbean spirit among hundreds of holiday deals to concrete monolith hotels?
The problem is that it can be difficult to book those smaller, more characterful properties on a package basis, which in reality is how most people from the UK travel to the Caribbean. This is because they offer protection (ABTA/ATOL certificates, meaning you are entitled to a refund if the travel company fails) and offer some control over the enormous price spikes for inter-island flights and transfers. While independently-booked nightly rates at Caribbean hotels and resorts can be extortionate, packages booked through tour operators often offer very good value for money.
Here are some of the best soulful, character-filled Caribbean boutique hotels and villas – no glitzy resorts allowed – which can be booked on a package basis, so you have the price security and booking ease they offer.
