Carl Junction celebrates Grandparents’ Day with special school events
CARL JUNCTION, Mo. — Grandparents’ Day was officially yesterday, but it didn’t stop a local school district from rolling out the red carpet for some of them today.
In fact, there are events planned all week in Carl Junction for grandmas and grandpas.
Today at the K-1 building – they got to see how the kids start the school day.
It’s typically with some songs and dancing to get them in a positive frame of mind — and today — also included the grandparents.
The kids also got to show off some of the things in their desks — and even got some help from their grandparents in making some hand-crafted projects.
“It’s really great to be here. It’s very unique that the school provides something like this, so grandparents get to come and share the time with their kids. It’s such a blessing,” said Becky Meier, proud grandma.
“It means so much to me, and so much to the kids. You can just see it in their face — all day they’ve been asking, ‘When are they gonna come? When are they gonna come?'” said Stephanie Valdois, Carl Junction kindergarten teacher.
Stephanie Valdois told us about 40 grandparents were there today.
By the way, Grandparents’ Day was celebrated for the first time in Poland in 1965.
