Smart-home products are all the rage these days. And no wonder: They keep us connected, save us untold amounts of energy (our own and our power grid's) and make our lives immeasurably easier. But some of us have been so intent on hooking up our domiciles with smart plugs and audio systems and vacuums and cookery that we may have forgotten to bring our garages into the 21st century. Specifically, our garage-door openers. Here's with an opportunity to rectify that situation. The Chamberlain MyQ Smart Garage Hub, a longtime No.1 best-selling device at Amazon, is now on sale for just $23.
You don't get to sit atop Amazon's sales charts unless you've got a lot of love behind you. Well, the MyQ has garnered more than 34,000 five-star reviews from over-the-moon shoppers. Maybe it's time you joined them.
If (when) you do, you will, of course, get free two-day shipping with Amazon Prime. Not yet a member? Let's fix that too: You can sign up for a free 30-day trial here. (And by the way, those without Prime still get free shipping on orders of $25 or more.)
Control your garage door from anywhere
How does the MyQ work? Simple: You use your smartphone via its app to open and close your garage door from just about anywhere and to set a schedule for predictable daily openings and closing. It’s universal and works with any door, so there’s no need to replace yours. It’s an add-on to all the standard safety sensors that your existing garage door opener already provides. Just add the MyQ to your existing opener (as long as it was made after 1993) and you’re good to go.
Shoppers love how easy it is to schedule openings and closings, as well as get up-to-the-minute alerts. “Works as promised. I installed it in a couple minutes, and can control the doors with my phone,” shared a happy five-star Amazon reviewer. “My favorite parts are the schedule and the alerts. I programmed my door to shut at 9pm everyday. This prevents leaving it open overnight, automatically. I also set it to notify me if the door is left open for more than 45 minutes.”
The "Key" to it all
Here's where The Chamberlain MyQ Smart Garage Door Hub really takes things up a notch: In addition to daily, routine scheduling of openings and closings, the MyQ also comes in handy when you’re away and need to receive packages. It works in conjunction with Amazon Key, the mega-retailer's bespoke delivery system
Here’s how Amazon Key works: Instead of delivery people leaving your package in front of your door, they can safely access your garage with the MyQ app. Amazon authorizes the delivery, and sends you a notification when packages are being delivered and the service is accessed. In-Garage Delivery Drivers, who are vetted with background checks, will securely slip the package inside your garage, keeping them safe, dry and protected from the elements.
“The integration with Amazon Prime is fantastic,” raved a satisfied shopper. “Getting an early notification from Amazon the night before, then getting a notification that it was delivered is great!...I don't have to worry about having my package stolen (I had two stolen in the last two years), as they are now delivered into the garage, with the delivery person not taking more than one step into the garage (verified on cam). Nice!”
Amazon will also guarantee delivery and reimburse you in the unlikely event of property damage or if anything somehow manages to gets stolen or go missing. Check out Amazon Key for more info and details.
