Chris Evans, George Takei slam Trump's attack on Christine Blasey Ford: 'We should all be ashamed of our president'
Just days after calling her a “very credible witness” and “very fine woman” who had delivered “compelling” testimony, President Trump has turned Christine Blasey Ford into a punchline.
During Tuesday night’s campaign rally in Southaven, Miss., Trump mocked Ford, who has accused his Supreme Court nominee, Brett Kavanaugh, of sexual assault.
“How did you get home? I don’t remember,” Trump told the crowd in a play on Ford’s testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee last week, which has prompted an FBI investigation. “How did you get there? I don’t remember. Where is the place? I don’t remember. How many years ago was it? I don’t know. I don’t know. I don’t know. I don’t know. What neighborhood was it in? I don’t know. Where’s the house? I don’t know. Upstairs, downstairs, where was it? I don’t know. But I had one beer, that’s the only thing I remember.”
He then went on to express sympathy for Kavanaugh.
“And a man’s life is in tatters, a man’s life is shattered,” Trump said. “His wife is shattered. His daughters who are beautiful, incredible young kids — they destroy people, they want to destroy people. These are really evil people.”
While the supporters surrounding him in Mississippi applauded and laughed, many consider his statements victim-shaming and disrespectful to women.
Ford’s legal counsel, Michael R. Bromwich, slammed the speech as a “vicious, vile, and soulless attack” on his client. Bromwich was among many who noted that reactions like Trump’s discourage women from reporting sexual assault.
A vicious, vile and soulless attack on Dr. Christine Blasey Ford. Is it any wonder that she was terrified to come forward, and that other sexual assault survivors are as well? She is a remarkable profile in courage. He is a profile in cowardice. https://t.co/UJ0bGxV1EZ

Celebrities, including Chris Evans, Debra Messing, Alyssa Milano, and Star Trek‘s George Takei, also condemned the president’s words.
Are you kidding me? Are you kidding me with this? What is the purpose of this? Was there no other vitriol you could spew to rile up your base and deepen this country’s divide? You used THIS?? Do you even understand the message you’re sending? Where is your sense of human decency? https://t.co/SdEh7fFLtL

Donald Trump is a pig.

The rally follows Trump’s remarks to the press earlier in the day about it being a “very scary time for young men in America.”
