Claire Foy Gets Emotional During Acceptance Speech for the Lead Actress in a Dramas Series Emmy
Claire Foy dedicated her BFD Emmy win tonight (hello, Lead Actress in a Drama Series!) to "the next cast, the next generation" of The Crown during her acceptance speech.
Foy described her time on The Crown as "the most extraordinary two-and-a-half years of my life," fighting back tears. She also dedicated her award to her on-screen hubby, Matt Smith, aka Prince Philip.
Your fave Queen beat out all your other fave queens: Sandra Oh (Killing Eve), Tatiana Maslany (Orphan Black), Keri Russell (The Americans), Elisabeth Moss (The Handmaid’s Tale), and Evan Rachel Wood (Westworld).
Foy gave a shout-out to a fellow nominee saying, "Sandra Oh, I love ya!"
It’s a bittersweet win for Foy stans-the last season of The Crown was also her last. The third season has been recast as the show accelerates through royal family history on its way toward present-day.
Foy’s much-deserved (don’t even get me started on that pay gap) win comes a year after she lost the crown to Elisabeth Moss who won last year for The Handmaid’s Tale. We’ll miss Foy’s delicate restraint and power as Queen Elizabeth II. But we’ll always have this royal AF red carpet lewk.
Long live the queen.
