Travis Scott, Colin Kaepernick reportedly at odds over Super Bowl halftime show
Leading up to the announcement of who would perform at halftime of Super Bowl LIII, there were reports of performers like Cardi B and Rihanna turning down the gig to support Colin Kaepernick, who alleges he is being shunned by NFL teams after kneeling for the national anthem.
That, in turn, led to questions for those who did accept the offer. A report from Variety said Travis Scott called Kaepernick and while the two didn’t agree on everything, there was “mutual respect and understanding” after the conversation about the halftime show, which will be headlined by Maroon 5.
That was a severe mischaracterization of the conversation, according to Kaepernick’s girlfriend.
Colin Kaepernick’s girlfriend says there was no ‘understanding’
Kaepernick’s girlfriend Nessa Diab has been outspoken on social media before, and she didn’t hold back on Scott and the report about Scott and Kaepernick talking it all out.
There is NO mutual respect and there is NO understanding for anyone working against @Kaepernick7 PERIOD. #stoplying https://t.co/0HB6kcWJRG

Kaepernick has been out of the NFL for two seasons after he famously kneeled during the national anthem in 2016. He has filed a collusion grievance against the NFL.
After Nessa’s tweet, Complex reported, via a source close to Scott, “Colin doesn’t tell Travis what he can and can’t do. That’s Travis’ decision.”
Travis Scott wanted a donation to Dream Corps
Scott said he wouldn’t agree to the Super Bowl appearance until the NFL agreed to donate $500,000 to the social-justice organization Dream Corps, according to Variety. The report said Scott felt everyone takes a stance in their own way and the money going to Dream Corps “will do some good.”
It’s rare to get some behind-the-scenes controversy regarding the Super Bowl halftime show performers. More than a hundred million people will be watching the Super Bowl halftime show as usual, and this time there will be a backstory involved.
