The Cost Of Your Prime Membership Is Increasing
There's no way to sugar-coat this: Amazon is increasing the cost of it's annual Prime membership - meaning free grocery delivery and two-day shipping are going to come at a steeper price. The hike was announced by Amazon's CFO Brian Olsavksy during a quarterly earnings call with the site's investors. Effective May 11 for new members, Prime will go from $99 to $119 a year. The change doesn't affect existing members until June 16.

“The value of Prime to customers has never been greater,” Olsavsky said on the call. “And the cost is also high, as we pointed out especially with shipping options and digital benefits, we continue to see rises in costs.” His point serves as a reminder that members should take advantage of all the perks offered. (Psst: If you live in one of these 25 cities, you have a lot.)
This is the first time the annual fee has increased since 2014, but earlier this year, the month-to-month cost jumped from $10.99 to $12.99 - $156 a year. Both changes affect the 100 million people (and counting) who hold a Prime memberships.
