Croissant s'mores are the viral dessert you need for a fancy summer. How to make it
Most days, I use social media to entertain myself whenever I get bored. Sometimes it gives me a good idea or two, though, and the latter happened on Mother's Day.
My wife, celebrating her second Mother's Day, recently watched multiple videos of the viral croissant s'mores (yes, they're exactly what they sound like). So she asked if we could make them for dessert in honor of her big day.
We feasted.
I'm a huge s'mores guy. I eat s'mores Pop-Tarts. S'mores cereal. S'mores doughnuts. If you put marshmallows, chocolate and graham crackers on anything, I'm there.
I had my reservations about subbing a croissant in for the graham crackers, the basis of the internet recipe. The soft, doughy bread, however, made for a nice change of pace compared to the crunchy crackers. The treat became a little more sophisticated – like a fancy s'mores sandwich. But my hands were still sticky and my tummy was happy, giving me the ultimate s'mores experience.
How to make croissant s'mores
Split your croissant down the middle, leaving plenty of space for the marshmallow and chocolate.
Roast your marshmallow.
Once the marshmallow reaches your ideal color (I like mine charcoal black), take it out of the fire and slide it in the middle of your croissant.
Put your chocolate of choice (I did Hershey's but will try Reese's next time) on top of your marshmallow.
Close your croissant, crushing the marshmallow and chocolate together.
Chow down.
These are perfect for those warm nights around the corner. I may have found my new treat for the summer.
