Will any of the original Cruel Intentions stars return for the series?

At least one of the stars from the original film is said to be coming back for the TV series. Deadline reported in June 2023 that the main cast includes Sean Patrick Thomas, who played Ronald Clifford (Cecile's music teacher) in the 1999 movie.

Gellar, who portrayed Kathryn Merteuil in the film, was asked by the New York Times in 2022 if she would be interested in revisiting a reboot series after NBC, in 2016, passed on picking up a pilot she had filmed. "I don’t know. That was a whole crazy time. Nothing against NBC, but Cruel Intentions is straight streaming," the actress said at the time. "On the first day, I was like, 'This isn’t working.' It’s just not a network show. And if it is a network show, it’s not my Cruel Intentions. So, I was actually grateful."
