After learning that his flight attendant daughter had to work on Christmas, one dad chose to spend the holiday onboard her flights just to spend quality time with her — leg room be damned.

Hal Vaughan flew on several Delta flights with his daughter, Pierce, as she was scheduled to work Christmas Eve and Christmas. According to 11 Alive, “The pair flew together from New Orleans to Detroit, and then Vaughan worked three flights where her dad was a passenger from Detroit to Fort Myers, back to Detroit and then to Hartford.”

The heartwarming dad and daughter moment was captured by a fellow passenger, Mike Levy (at right in the photo), and shared to Facebook.

I had the pleasure of sitting next to Hal on my flight back home. His daughter Pierce was our flight attendant who had to work over Christmas. Hal decided he would spend the holiday with her. So, he is flying on each of her flights today and tomorrow around the country to spend time with his daughter for Christmas,” Levy shared.

According to Pierce, her father used her family benefits to book the flights, which, according to Delta employee benefits, include free or reduced travel for spouses, minor dependent children and parents.

Dad’s first trip using his benefits was a success! A special thanks to all of the patient, wonderful gate agents around the country and my perfect crew. He made it on every flight and even got first class RSW-DTW (Christmas miracle),” the daughter shared.

What a fantastic father!” Levy, the fellow first-class passenger, wrote.
