Darren Aronofsky is set to direct the Elon Musk biopic from A24, adapted from Walter Isaacson's authorized biography.

After a heated bidding war between filmmakers and studios for the option, the indie studio behind last year's Best Picture winner secured the rights.

Director Darren Aronofsky is the mind behind films such as Black Swan, Mother!, Requiem for a Dream and last year's two-time Oscar winner, The Whale. He's an interesting choice as his films often subvert expectations, so audiences should anticipate that this will not be your average biopic.

Isaacson also wrote the biography the 2015 Danny Boyle movie Steve Jobs was based on, which saw Michael Fassbender and Kate Winslet receive an Oscar nomination for their performances.
