David Duchovny Brings 'X-Files'-Themed Picket Sign to Strike

David Duchovny, who is well-known as an actor, writer, producer, and more, joined many friends and co-workers on strike this week, creating the perfect sign for the occasion.

Duchovny was spotted with a "Writers Guild on Strike!" sign with the words written, "The residuals are out there," referencing his famous television series The X-Files. Underneath the text, Duchovny drew a cute little UFO as well.

Unsurprisingly, fans saw the photo of Duchovny with his sign and loved it. One person tweeted about it, writing, "You're telling me I'm supposed to just move on with my day after this?"

One person wrote in response to the sign, "I want to believe (that they can agree on a fair contract)."

The post quickly got a lot of attention, with someone else who works in the industry, Todd Vaziri, retweeting and adding some context: "David Duchovny sued Fox because Fox sold 'The X-Files' reruns to Fox-owned stations in a sweetheart deal (rather than on the open market), scamming him and other participants out of millions of dollars (they settled out of court). Studios will try to get away with everything."

Duchovny spoke with Deadline while out on strike, telling the publication, "We always worked in a business that rewarded success and didn’t want failure. Now, we have these opaque streamers who kind of tell us what’s a success and what’s a failure and I wouldn’t trust an employer to tell me how well I’m doing."

He also touched on all of the issues at play in the industry right now, saying, "I think the powers that be have a lot on their plate right now with trying to figure out, kicking the can down the road with the AI stuff. What is it capable of? They’re philosophical questions."

SAG-AFTRA went on strike last week after negotiations for a contract renewal failed, joining the WGA, which has been on strike for over 75 days now.
