David Schwimmer Mourns Late 'Friends' Co-Star Matthew Perry

David Schwimmer and Matthew Perry

David Schwimmer is the latest member of the Friends cast to pay tribute to the late Matthew Perry.

Weeks after releasing an initial joint statement with former co-stars Courteney Cox, Jennifer Aniston, Matt LeBlanc, and Lisa Kudrow following Perry's death, Schwimmer now has his own words to share about his late friend.

"Matty, Thank you for ten incredible years of laughter and creativity. I will never forget your impeccable comic timing and delivery. You could take a straight line of dialogue and bend it to your will, resulting in something so entirely original and unexpectedly funny it still astonishes," Schwimmer, 57, wrote on social media on Wednesday, Nov. 15.

"And you had heart. Which you were generous with, and shared with us, so we could create a family out of six strangers. This photo is from one of my favorite moments with you. Now it makes me smile and grieve at the same time."

"I imagine you up there, somewhere, in the same white suit, hands in your pockets, looking around—'Could there BE any more clouds?'" Schwimmer concluded. He penned the heartfelt note alongside a photo of himself and Perry in an episode of Friends.

Perry was known for playing the joke-cracking character Chandler Bing on all 10 seasons of Friends, while Schwimmer played his college roommate, longtime friend and eventual brother-in-law, Ross Geller.

Perry died at the age of 54 on Saturday, Oct. 28, when he was found in the hot tub at his home in the Pacific Palisades, Los Angeles. Schwimmer and the rest of the Friends stars were among the close friends and family who attended a memorial service for Perry on Nov. 3, when the late actor was buried at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in a private ceremony.

Days after the news of Perry's untimely passing, Schwimmer, Cox, Aniston, LeBlanc and Kudrow mourned their friend by releasing a joint statement together, which read: "We are all so utterly devastated by the loss of Matthew. We were more than just cast mates. We are a family."

"There is so much to say, but right now we’re going to take a moment to grieve and process this unfathomable loss," the group added.

Since then, the stars of the show have started to share their own individual memories of Perry, with LeBlanc, 56, being the first of the group to dedicate a heartbreaking social media post to the late actor.

"Matthew It is with a heavy heart I say goodbye," LeBlanc wrote in his caption. "The times we had together are honestly among the favorite times of my life. It was an honor to share the stage with you and to call you my friend."

LeBlanc worked extremely closely with Perry during his run on the show as Joey Tribbiani, the other half of the iconic roommate duo who live across the hall from Monica (Cox) and Rachel (Aniston).

"I will always smile when I think of you and I’ll never forget you. Never. Spread your wings and fly brother you’re finally free. Much love," LeBlanc continued, before joking, in true Chandler style, "And I guess you’re keeping the 20 bucks you owe me."
