Disney’s Live-Action ‘Peter Pan’ Remake Just Found Its Captain Hook
Rumor has it that Jude Law is heading to Neverland to take on the Lost Boys.
The New Pope actor, 47, is currently in talks to play Captain Hook in Disney’s live-action remake of Peter Pan, according to Variety. The studio hasn’t released any further details about the movie, titled Peter Pan & Wendy, but we do know it’ll follow the iconic characters as they attempt to defeat Neverland’s evil villain (aka Captain Hook).
If the rumors are true, Law will star alongside Alexander Molony (Peter) and Ever Anderson (Wendy). The actor will follow in the footsteps of several noteworthy celebs who’ve played Captain Hook, including Dustin Hoffman, Jason Isaacs and Garrett Hedlund.
Peter Pan & Wendy will be based on Disney’s 1953 animated movie, which follows a group of siblings as they team up with a magical boy, who brings them to Neverland. The film has inspired adaptations and sequels for the big screen several times—including Hook (1991) and Pan (2015). However, this is the first time that Disney is putting a live-action twist on the original story, so our expectations are high.
Peter Pan & Wendy is joining a slew of other live-action remakes, including Dumbo, The Lion King, Aladdin, Mulan, Lady and the Tramp, The Little Mermaid, Lilo & Stitch, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Pinocchio and 101 Dalmatians. (Talk about a blast from the past.)
One question still remains: Who will play Captain Hook’s right-hand guy, Mr. Smee?
