Doja Cat Doubles Down on Anti-Fan Remarks After Losing Nearly 1 Million Followers
Doja Cat isn't feeling bad about losing nearly 1 million Instagram followers in the past month.
On Wednesday, Aug. 16, the "Say So" singer posted on her Instagram Story that she felt free after experiencing the mass unfollowing, per Insider. "Seeing all these people unfollow makes me feel like I've defeated a large beast that's been holding me down for so long," she wrote. "It feels like I can reconnect with the people who really matter and love me for who i am and not for who i was."
A day after her social media statement, the artist posted a meme on her Instagram Story that read, "People pleasing is over become unacceptable."
She also limited the comments she gets on her Instagram posts.
The 27-year-old began losing followers on the social media platform after a post on Instagram sister app Threads landed her in trouble with her fans.
Back on July 23, a fan page from Iran replied to her Threads post, writing, "I wanna hear you say (I do love you guys) As usual you say to your fans." The rapper responded, "i don't though cuz I don't even know yall [sic]."
A different fan chimed in, writing, "and we don't know you. but we have supported you through thick and thin, mind you you'd be NOTHING without us. you'd be working at a grocery store making songs on f---ing garage band miss high school drop out…"
But the rapper stood by her initial message, retaliating, "nobody forced you idk why you're talking to me like you're my mother bitch you sound like a crazy person."
Doja Cat then shared other harsh interactions with fans, until ultimately deciding to delete her Threads account.
However, it doesn't seem like the Grammy winner's comments have stopped the buzz surrounding her upcoming album Scarlet, expected to arrive at some point in the year.
