Dolce & Gabbana's Delicious Food-Themed Runway
Dolce & Gabbana's Milan Fashion Week Spring 2018 runway boasted bold, sometimes literal takes on a Queen of Hearts theme. Models strutted down the runway in crowns, playing card-adorned attire and vibrant accessories to lose your head over. But look closely...
Those sunglasses! And the contents of the bag! And the matching crown and necklace! D&G stuck some actually delicious details in their collection and I am suddenly deeply invested in this runway.
The only thing that can compare to the joy of eating five to 20 mini-tarts and cannolis is getting to walk around all day wearing them. Who needs a shopping list? Just put on clothes and point to things on your dietary drag until people bring them to you.
"Hello waiter, I'll be ordering off the menu tonight. I'll have my sleeve and two of my earrings, please."
"Ma'am, this is a Chipotle."
It seems no detail was overlooked (overcooked?) on these epic epicurean ensembles.
Even the bags were food-themed (and contained a healthy bunch of greens that could have come straight from Oprah's legendary garden).
"Parsley. But make it fashion."
Honestly, I have never been so inspired by clothing as I am right now. And that's saying a lot considering I just bought a sweatshirt featuring a hot young Trudeau looking like a Tiger Beat cover boy.
So, if you're keeping track: food > Le Bae, the Disney Prince. Je suis désolé, Trudeau. You'll always be mon petit chou.
Anyway, back to D&G! These models were stomping the runway wearing actual produce and I'm shewk.
Oranges!
Carrots!
Eggplants!
These vegetable vestments are pretty much the foundation of the food pyramid. Garden garb will give you life and also prolong your life. It's a win-win.
Michelle Obama must be living right now.
This lewk is called "Yes we can." Amiright? Am I? I don't know. All this food fashion has me famished and flushed. I need some fennel. And a Frosty.
Speaking of first ladies, last week, First Lady Melania Trump - a D&G fan - rocked a lumberjack lewk in a $1,380 Balmain top during a harvest event in the White House garden. Might I gently suggest a next time opting for a lewk that is a little more on the nose?
Before, ravishing:
After, radishing:
Nothing says "I have come to collect the bounty of the Earth" better than a crown made of vegetables, to be honest. It's Root couture.
In need of a more subtle, transitional lewk? Try this ensemble; it'll take you from daytime-to-clementine.
Have you been looking for something that you can wear to work and also to a night out? Orange you glad you found Dolce & Gabbana?
And on the weekends, you better believe you'll catch me bursting into Whole Foods like the Siren of Snap Peas in this legume lewk.
This is that perfect way to tell people you're a queen who eats clean. Isn't that what we're all trying to communicate, at the end of the day?
