Down to $10 for two, these Energizer headlamps will illuminate your evening walks

Brighten the night and stay hands-free during camping trips, household projects and power outages.

When you lose power, flashlights are great, but sometimes you need to carry provisions, guide others to safety, fight off a serial killer — you know, the usual stuff. That's when these Energizer LED Headlamps come to the rescue. On sale for under $5 each in a two-pack, these handy lights are ideal for camping, evening walks or any time you need light in an emergency, especially when you want your hands free.

These long-lasting, water-resistant headlamps are exactly what you need when the lights go out. Batteries are included.

Why is it a good deal? ??

Uh, you're getting two for the price of one. That's one for you and one for your partner, or a backup for you if you live alone. We've seen this set go for as much as $17 in the past, and its current sale price is the lowest it's been all year, so if you're even contemplating it, now is a great time to buy.

Why do I need this? ??

These are comfortable, compact headlamps that you can throw on during an emergency (or simply to explore your attic). The light is 12 times brighter than the standard LEDs for headlamps, providing up to 100 lumens and illuminating things as far as 130 feet away. Oh, and you can switch to a red-light mode for use that won't interfere with your night vision, or to improve your visibility to others. How cool is that?

Another pro: These are rugged. If you bump your head or drop the headlamp, it will probably survive — it's rated for drops up to a few feet. It's also comfortable, which is a far cry from a lot of headlamps we've tried. Too many of them squeeze against the forehead and result in headaches.

While these take any kind of AAA battery, you can use rechargeables to make sure you always have a light ready when you need it. They're great for walking your dog, going on a hike, or just doing work that requires light but two hands, like working on a car.

What reviewers say ??

More than 4,400 people swear by these, and they're finding plenty of interesting ways to use them.

Pros ??

"I live in an area affected by hurricanes, these little headlamps are in my must-have hurricane supplies," wrote a grateful shopper. "After [Hurricane] Ian destroyed our town and we didn't have electricity, these little lamps really made our lives easier in the dark."

"Amazing quality, the lights are easy to set up, lights are bright and really helped me go outdoors with my dog," said another fan. "The lighting is beyond words, very bright. I also love that I can switch the light to different modes depending on the situation. Comfortable and convenient headband that adjusts to my head size. The package has two headlights and batteries included, it just makes me feel safe to have it."

Other shoppers take these gadgets to work. "I use these to unload grocery trucks," said one. "The trailers seldom have lights. They do the job! Also, the red low light setting is great for when I fly my drones at night. I’m not temporarily blinded."

"I oversee construction contracts and am often in unlit hospital basements and was in dire need of a headlamp for my safety hat," reported another five-star fan. "This Energizer headlamp is a huge step up from using cellphone flashlights to see."

Cons ??

"The power button is a little hard to use," cautioned a final reviewer. "I have arthritis in my hands and I have some trouble clicking the power button. [I] actually like the red night light for after dark, so your eyes adjust. Good value for the price."

Speaking specifically to the red-light mode, one shopper said she wishes it "was a bit brighter." The same reviewer added that "for what you pay for, it's a big win."

Why reach for a flashlight when you can have both hands free?
