If you are obsessed with popping your pimples, chances are you've seen at least one of Dr. Pimple Popper's oozy extraction videos. Regardless of their squirm-inducing nature, these clips by Sandra Lee, MD, are super satisfying for many people to watch.
Since 2018, the dermatologist has attracted a huge following by giving viewers a glimpse into what she does for acne patients every day on her hit TLC series, and she’s even gained celebrity fans too.
Now that many of us are staying at home to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, the stress has really impacted our skin and breakouts are probably occurring way more often than before. So it only made sense to tap Dr. Lee, a professional in the skincare industry who knows all about blackheads, whiteheads, cysts and more, to give us some tips on how to cope with these changes to our skin.
Check out her expert-approved product picks and tips below, and watch the video above for all of the details on how to prevent acne stress breakouts at home.
1. Treat your acne with SLMD Skincare BP Spot Treatment
Dr. Lee recommends using a benzoyl peroxide treatment to help with acne.
As the creator of SLMD Skincare, she explains, "Benzoyl peroxide is great for acne. It helps to kill and destroy the bacteria that lives in skin that makes those red, painful bumps."
Lee says, "If I just put the spot on my chin, I treat it. But also, it helps remind me, don't touch my chin." Sometimes when you rub in the treatment, you forget that it’s even there. This will help you to not pick at it if you coat it well.
2. Moisturize dry hands with Eucerin Eczema Relief Creme
According to Dr. Lee, “When you get water on your hands, as it evaporates, it sucks the moisture out with it." And this is particularly a common skincare issue at the moment, as we have been washing our hands more frequently. The dermatologist recommends using an eczema relief cream to treat and relieve dry hands.
This is a product I regularly use for my eczema, so I was super happy when Dr. Lee suggested this hand cream. It’s fragrance-free, which makes it ideal for those with sensitive or itchy skin.
With severe dryness comes cracked hands at times, and Lee has a special skincare hack for this: “You can actually use Super Glue and coat the top of it. It will seal it and allow it to heal," she explains. Who would’ve of thought Super Glue could be so helpful?
3. Use CeraVe Healing Ointment for dry spots
For dry spots, Dr. Lee recommends using this drugstore healing ointment.
"I put it on my lips. I put it like anywhere, like if you're sneezing a lot or you're rubbing your nose, you put it around your nose on your elbows, your heels," she says.
