Drew Barrymore Has Emotional Reunion With Flight Attendant Who Held Her When She Was 'Bawling'

Drew Barrymore had an emotional reunion with a flight attendant who was there for her during one of her toughest moments.
On the latest episode of The Drew Barrymore Show, the talk show host made her way to the audience. The flight attendant handed Barrymore her phone, featuring a photo they took together when they first crossed paths, and told her, "When I met you, you were crying in my galley. That was four years ago and here I am crying on your show now."
The woman continued, "And we sat in my galley, and you cried, and cried, 'cause you were going through so much, and here I am at your show now." Barrymore got misty-eyed and asked her, "Do you remember what I was going through?" The flight attendant confirmed, "Yes, I do. I do." She added, "You were just bawling and I just was holding you."
Barrymore then walked up the steps and gave the woman a tight hug. She then sat down next to her and explained, "That was a really hard year. That was the year I stopped drinking." The actress added, "You know, when you stop drinking, it's not like all your problems go away. There's a ton of work to be done. It's a way to honor yourself and be consistent, and let the room in for other things."
The host then stood up and addressed the audience, noting that alcohol was a "poison" for her and she turned to it because she "didn't want to feel," and she "felt better" while drinking.
Barrymore told the kind woman that she'd need her phone number to remain in touch. "There was a reason we met that day," said the host. She added, "Thank you for letting me be so honest and transparent with you then, and thank you for being that with me now."
Previously, Barrymore had opened up about her struggles with alcoholism following her divorce from Will Kopelman. In March, she told The LA Times that she used her excessive drinking as a coping mechanism for depression, but her dependency issues were so severe that her therapist dropped her.
