Drew Carey Mourns 'Price Is Right' Predecessor Bob Barker: 'Very Sad Day'

Drew Carey is speaking out following the death of his The Price is Right predecessor, Bob Barker.

The beloved former host passed peacefully away at his Los Angeles home earlier today, Aug. 26, of natural causes. He was 99 years old.

Upon learning of the sad news, Carey, who has been hosting the popular game show since Barker retired in 2007—after an incredible 35 years at the helm—took to Twitter with a sweet tribute to the legend.

"Very sad day for the Price Is Right family, and animal lovers all over the world," he wrote, also referencing Barker's tireless animal rights advocacy. "There hasn’t been a day on set that I didn’t think of Bob Barker and thank him. I will carry his memory in my heart forever." He added a memorial hashtag, as well, before signing off, "We love you ??."

Several fans sent their love as well, with one replying to Carey, "RIP Bob. You're still doing a great job with the show Drew. I know you'll keep his legacy with it."

"RIP Bob Barker. So glad you are continuing his legacy and making Cleveland proud!" another commended.

"RIP to the GOAT," someone else said. "My condolences Drew."

Separately, TV writer and producer Louis Virtel had perhaps the perfect tweet following Barker's death, writing, "I cannot believe Bob Barker lived as close to 100 as possible without going over."

He would have turned 100 this December, and we bet he would have gotten a kick out of the irony.
