Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson's Famous French Toast Is Rich, Thick and Larger Than Life

If there was an award for who makes the best "cheat day" meals, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson would absolutely destroy the competition. The Black Adam star has never shied away from sharing his cheat meal exploits with the public, regularly using his social media platform to showcase his healthy lifestyle and his love for delicious eats.

Earlier this summer, Johnson took to his Instagram yet again to give everyone the inside scoop on just what goes into his signature French toast. Johnson breaks down each ingredient included in the breakfast perfection that he and his private chef, Racquel Rockquemore-Breiz, created together.

In a recent interview with People, Rockquemore-Breiz shared the delicious details on how they developed this perfect recipe using three different toppings and extra thick slices of toast. At this point, I could barely make it through the article. I couldn't wait to recreate The Rock’s famous (or infamous, depending on who you ask) French toast for myself. The version Rockquemore-Breiz shares with People is smothered with a bananas foster syrup, which was something I knew I needed to try ASAP.

Ingredients for Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's Famous French Toast

This recipe has a few components, so you will likely need to head to the store. Starting at the top (literally) you'll need heavy cream, powdered sugar and vanilla extract for the homemade whipped cream topping. For the Bananas Foster syrup, you'll need a ripe banana, dark brown sugar and butter. Additional ingredients include large eggs, whole milk, ground cinnamon, four thick slices of challah or brioche and ? cup of roughly chopped honey-roasted macadamia nuts.

How to Make Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's Famous French Toast

This is a 4-part recipe that requires some close attention, but the rewards are worth the labor. Start by beating together the cream, powdered sugar and vanilla in a medium bowl with an electric mixer on medium speed. Beat until soft peaks form, about 1 minute. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and place in the refrigerator until ready to use.

In a medium saucepan, stir together the banana slices, brown sugar and butter over medium-low heat. Stir often, until the bananas are soft and the sugar has fully dissolved. Once the sugar is dissolved, transfer the mixture to a blender. Secure the lid and remove the center piece to let the steam escape while blending. You can place a clean towel over the opening to keep any ingredients from spitting out. Blend for about 1 minute, or until smooth.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, cinnamon and more vanilla. Place a large skillet over medium heat and coat it with butter.

Dip two bread slices into the egg mixture, then place onto the hot skillet. Cook the bread until it's golden brown on both sides. Repeat this step for the second batch of bread slices. Top with the bananas foster sauce, homemade whipped cream and chopped macadamia nuts.

What I Thought of Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's Famous French Toast

My only regret with this recipe was that I couldn't find challah. Instead, I used pre-sliced brioche, which wasn't as thick as what The Rock used in his version. Everything else, however, was top-notch.

This tasty meal is welcome in my home any day of the week — cheat day or not. I can’t wait to make it again, this time with challah, though I really want another shot at perfecting the bananas foster sauce. While my attempt tasted amazing, it didn't have the pouring effect that Johnson’s seemed to have. My sauce had to be scooped and his just poured effortlessly. All in all though, I think this recipe is a hit and anyone who is a fan of French toast should be trying it out immediately.

Tips for Making Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's Famous French Toast

1. Slice your own bread. If you want your French toast to turn out looking larger than life like The Rock’s, look for a loaf or challah or brioche that you can slice yourself. I could only find pre-sliced brioche, which meant my slices were a little slimmer than I would have liked.

2. Experiment with different toppings. If any of these toppings don’t sit well with you, feel free to experiment with other flavors. I chose chopped cashews for my version because I'm not a fan of macadamia nuts. Additionally, fresh fruit, Nutella or peanut butter would all be great in this recipe.
