How Ellen DeGeneres Predicted Kelly Clarkson's 'Talk Show Host' Career
Ellen DeGeneres flaunted her seemingly prophetic ability to know that Kelly Clarkson would be a good talk show host on social media, posting a throwback video as evidence.
DeGeneres captioned the clip, "I knew @KellyClarkson would be an amazing talk show host and here’s proof from 2018."
The 65-year-old posted a clip from her long-running show, The Ellen DeGeneres Show, in which DeGeneres told Clarkson, who was her guest, "We decided you would be a great talk show host."
DeGeneres went on to declare, "I want her to be a talk show host." The moment happened ahead of Clarkson's first time hosting the Billboard Music Awards, so DeGeneres brought in a desk for a fake show called "The Kelly Show" so that Clarkson could give hosting a try.
At the time, DeGeneres even declared it "The Kelly Clarkson Show," which is what Clarkson would go on to call her talk show when it started in 2019.
Clarkson then took over for DeGeneres and ran through a scenario in which the comedian was the first guest on her show, and she was truly a natural.
The conversation continued to flow, with Clarkson's charm on full display as she asked DeGeneres what led her to become a talk show host.
"Thanks for believing in people ??," commented one fan on the clip, appreciating DeGeneres' encouragement.
Another admitted that they even like Clarkson's humor more than DeGeneres', saying, "When Kelly said I’m not a comedian I was shocked because I personally find her funnier than Ellen."
The Kelly Clarkson Show aired its first episode on Sept. 9, 2019, and as of writing, it has had four seasons, with season 5 coming soon.
