Breakfast in the Park

Audubon Mill Park in Henderson, Kentucky, will be the site of Breakfast in the Park on Saturday, Aug. 8, from 8-10:30 a.m. Food will be prepared by Hometown Roots in Henderson. Plates are $12 for adults and $6 for kids. Proceeds will benefit the Bluegrass in the Park Folklife Festival, a free event.

Audubon Mill Park is at 123 Water St. in Henderson.

New by-the-slice pizza shop will open in food court

The Big-Ass Slice Shop, a new restaurant in the Main Street Food & Beverage Food Hall, is tentatively scheduled to open the first week in August.

The pizza will be "New York influenced" and served in extra large-sized slices with toppings from classic pepperoni to Margherita to dill pickle.

The Big-Ass Slice Shop will be inside the Main Street Food & Beverage Food Hall at 900 Main St.

Night Market

The Downtown Evansville Night Market will take place on Friday, Aug. 9, from 5-8 p.m. Come for all your farmers market favorites such as fresh produce and ready-to-eat foods, food trucks, artists and other vendors, music, and more.

The Downtown Evansville Night Market will be on Sixth Street between Sycamore and Locust Streets.

Kobe Wine Dinner

The Farmer and Frenchman Winery and Restaurant will host a Kobe Wine Dinner on Thursday, Aug. 29, from 7-9 p.m. It's not too early to reserve, the event will sell out soon. The meal will feature Kobe wine grapes and Kobe Wine Beef, which is fed with grape lees from the region's vineyards.

On the menu will be Panzanella salad with with croutons, greens, tomato, cucumber, fresh mozzarella and red wine vinaigrette; Fettuccine with squid ink sauce, calamari, olives, chiles and white wine saffron sauce; mushroom bruschetta with roasted maitake mushrooms, guanciale, gorgonzola cheese and a red wine reduction; fire-grilled Kobe strip loin with herbs, olive oil and canellini beans; and cannoli with chocolate, pistachios, ricotta cheese and orange zest. Each course will be served with a complementary wine.

Tickets are $190 per person, or $170 without wine pairings.

Kung Fu Chicken

Kung Fu Chicken is now open in the former Hoosier Burger building on Green River Road. On the menu is a mix of Asian and American chicken dishes, including fried rice, General chicken, lo mein, spring rolls, hibachi chicken sandwiches, and fried wings. Non-chicken offerings include fried plantains, a Philly steak sandwich, a fish sandwich, and much more.

Pie Pan Closing

The Pie Pan Restaurant & Bakery has announced that it likely will be closing on Sept. 1. The long-time North Side restaurant is celebrated for casual American fare and homemade pies. Watch the Facebook page for any changing information about closure and dates and times of operation.

New brunch in St. Joe

The St. Joe Inn is now offering Sunday brunch from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. On the menu are breakfast dishes from omelettes to biscuits and gravy, a club sandwich, burgers, appetizers and more, alongside mimosas and loaded bloody marys. A kids' menu is available.

The Zone reopens with new menu

The Zone in Mount Vernon has reopened after storm damage with a new menu and more upscale feel. Breakfast is once again available.

Later, new dishes include garlic ginger shrimp with sesame seeds and snap peas, a steaks including a strip and filet steaks with potatoes and asparagus, shrimp and grits, Bourbon Street pasta, crab cakes and much more.

Look for happy hour specials on Saturdays beginning at 1 p.m.
