Every Character in Amazon's 'Tales From the Loop' Cast
Tales From the Loop has just dropped on Amazon, and the science fiction drama is already being compared to Black Mirror and Stranger Things. The new series is based on the art book of the same name by Simon St?lenhag, and it follows the adventures of the people who live above the Loop, a machine built to unlock and explore the mysteries of the universe. So basically, expect the impossible.
Tales from the Loop's writer and creator Nathaniel Halpern told CBR that he was immediately moved by St?lenhag's work and his aesthetic shaped the show. "And I think like most people who’ve seen his work, I was really taken by the aesthetic that he created. Especially, it's very hard in science fiction to have an aesthetic that feels unique, and he has this wonderful marriage between the ordinary and the extraordinary."
And while there is a general storyline throughout the show's eight episodes, each one focuses on a different character. Halpern also told Engadget that he hopes the self-contained stories evoke a sense of wonder. "That's why each episode tackles a wildly different idea. The breadth keeps the show fresh and ensures the viewer is never certain what the rules and narrative boundaries are. There’s always something new if you keep watching," Halpern explained. "And I think that’s what I was chasing, ultimately. Just never losing that sense of wonder."
