Fan-Favorite Mountain Dew Flavor Returns From the Dead for a Limited Time
Mountain Dew is really leaning into the darker side of things this Halloween–a trend it's been teasing all year.
This past spring, the fan-favorite citrusy soft drink brand revealed it would be reviving its Pitch Black soda variety for a brief and limited run of sales honoring the total solar eclipse on Monday, April 8.
Then, over the summer, it cooled customers off with another limited-run release, its fruity Purple Thunder flavor that was a bold violet color.
Now that it's fall, the PepsiCo-owned soft drink company is onto its next seasonal sensation, and it's one fans have had the pleasure of sipping on before. Making a grand return this spooky season is none other than the MTN Dew Dark Berry Blast!
Described as "a BOOze-free beverage that’s a dark and delicious collision of Mountain Dew with blue raspberry and blackberry flavors," the limited-time flavor will once again only be available at participating Applebee's locations this October, per a press release shared with Parade.
Those that had the chance to try it in years past shared nothing but positive reviews, with one Reddit user previously admitting that they hope Applebee's would "keep it on the menu" as a permanent option.
"I love it :3 its similar to dark berry 2012 Batman," a second confessed, while someone else said Dark Berry Blast made the cut for their top five "easily," joking that it might even be in their "top 3" favorite sodas of all time.

Alongside the revived Berry Blast soda, which first debuted in 2021, the neighborhood bar and grill is also launching two Halloween-inspired drinks for adults 21 years and older.
The Dollar Zombie, which is made "with rum, passion fruit, pineapple, cherry and lime and garnished with a ghoulish gummy brain." For just $1, it's said to be "full of lively flavor." Joining the Dollar Zombie is the new $5 BOO Lagoon, "featuring Bacardí Superior Rum, Malibu Coconut Rum, blue cura?ao, pineapple juice—that will have you feeling like you’ve escaped to paradise!"

Applebee's is also putting its own twist on the ever-popular Halloween bucket, introducing two new cocktails.
The Franken Mama, which it described as a spooky version of the classic Bahama Mama garnished with gummy brains, and Dracula's Juice, said to be a concoction of Patron Silver Tequila and Ole Smoky Blackberry Moonshine with triple sec, strawberry and lemon. Each are served in their own collectible prop for a limited time or while supplies last.
