Fans Debate How Kelsea Ballerini Pulled Off Mid-Song Outfit Change
Kelsea Ballerini has some magical powers, apparently.
The country songstress was performing at the MTV Video Music Awards on Tuesday, Sept. 12, when she pulled off an outfit change that left fans completely perplexed.
While on stage singing her hit song "Penthouse," Ballerini, 30, quickly swapped out her floor-length white gown for a short black strapless number—which she changed into right before fans' eyes.
"I need someone to explain this Kelsea Ballerini sorcery to me," one person wrote on X (formerly Twitter) in response to the performance, which showed Ballerini being briefly covered with fog and bright lights before totally changing up her look.

"Has to be tear away," one user online suggested. "But where did she toss it???"
"witchcraft," joked another fan.
The transition from the two outfits was so smooth, some fans even wondered if the performance was pre-filmed.
However, a person who claimed to have been in attendance at the show tried to put the confusion to rest, writing, "Velcro. Person on side with sting [sic] attached to bottom of dress. I was there lol."
"If you look very closely to the left you can see it being pulled off stage," someone else noted.
While the logistics of Ballerini's outfit change are still a mystery, there is no question that the "I Quit Drinking" singer nailed the performance.
Before taking the stage, Ballerini rocked a whole different dress for the red carpet: a fiery red hot gown with large cutouts on the side.

She was perfectly matching with her date for the evening, as her boyfriend Chase Stokes also sported his own red ensemble.
