Fans Gush Over Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton's Performance of New Song During Super Bowl Tailgate
US singer Gwen Stefani (R) and her husband US singer Blake Shelton
Gwen Stefani just had one of her coolest performances yet at the Super Bowl LVIII TikTok Tailgate.
The 54-year-old musician gave fans quite the show, entertaining audiences with a live performance during the pro football league’s pregame livestream before the big game between the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers.
During the show, her husband, country crooner Blake Shelton, joined her for a debut performance of the couple's new song "Purple Irises," where they packed on the PDA throughout the musical presentation. They released the reflective joint single just days ago on Friday, Feb. 9.
Fans on social media couldn't get enough of video footage of the moment, writing things like "thank you for this" and "love it."
The Grammy winner also performed a few of her classic hits, including "I'm Just a Girl" and "Hollaback Girl," with help from the crowd, who sang along.
Stefani's pre-Super Bowl performance isn't the only thing that had fans talking this week.
On Monday, Feb. 5, the pop star and Shelton delighted fans with the initial news that they'd be releasing new music together in the coming weeks, so the performance together at the pre-game event was an extra special treat.
In a joint post shared via the couple's social media pages, Stefani and Shelton graced viewers with a brief video of the two of them in the studio recording a new, unnamed duet.
The tune, which was shared via the 54-year-old Grammy-winning songstress' TikTok account alongside the caption, "… now we’re picking purple irises," includes lyrics that seem to be a nod to two of Stefani's recent Instagram posts that feature a vase of purple irises and a sweet note from her husband.
Though the couple has yet to confirm the name of the project and its release date, Shelton, 47, did recently reveal that his latest album, Love Language, is currently streaming wherever you get your tunes. While it doesn't include this particular song, it does feature two other previously-released duets with the celebrity couple: "Happy Anywhere" and "Nobody But You."
