Fans Remember Robin Williams on His 72nd Birthday With Profound Tributes
Fans of the late, great Robin Williams are remembering him today, July 21, 2023, on what would have been his 72nd birthday.
The actor's name began trending on Twitter today, with over 12 thousand new tweets rolling in reflecting on his greatest hits and massive talents.
From projects like Good Morning Vietnam (1987), Dead Poets Society (1989), Mrs. Doubtfire (1993), Good Will Hunting (1997), Mork & Mindy (1978), and all that fell around them, Williams was an expert at infusing joy throughout his fanbase with the lighter films and striking thoughtful responses with the more serious.
Today, that fanbase is taking to Twitter to mourn his loss nine years later and celebrate his beloved filmography.
Actor Michael Warburton uploaded a clip and a quote from Dead Poets Society, writing, "What will your verse be?”
"I will love this film until my dying day," one fan responded. "It still makes me cry just thinking about it."
?????????? I will love this film until my dying day. It still makes me cry just thinking about it. Man, I loved (love) Robin Williams. https://t.co/REaslOIdln

Someone else shared a photo of a mural painted on the side of a building in his birth city of Chicago, which features a photo-realistic image of his face surrounded by the genie from Aladdin, which he voiced.

Another touchingly imagined Tony Bennett, who passed away earlier this morning, serenading him with a birthday song.
I can just imagine Mr Tony Bennett singing an incredible rendition of Happy Birthday to Mr Robin Williams

Others called for folks to check in on their loved ones often.
Happy birthday to the one and only Robin Williams. His comedic genius and humor are sorely missed. ??
Check on those that you love and care about, for struggles with mental health does not discriminate. It can affect anyone at any given time. ??????????????#RobinWilliamsquote pic.twitter.com/XlTlW5lxqS— Shawn A. Jefferson (@ShawnAJefferson) July 21, 2023
But no matter what each tribute said, it was clear how much the comedian mattered, with fans still greatly impacted by his work—and his loss—all these years later.
Mork And Mindy. Where it all started for Robin Williams. RIP Robin Williams, a class act and a true legend. He was one of a kind and is truly missed.

I've watched one Robin Williams movie since his passing. And I ugly cried.
It still hurts. I watch clips with a smile, but I can't sit through a whole movie yet.
He is so missed. So loved. I will always carry my spark of madness. And I thank Mr. Williams for spreading his spark pic.twitter.com/KMs5x6sEGE— That Geek Barry ???? (@ThatGeekBarry) July 21, 2023
The comedic legend was just 63 years old when he died by suicide in 2014, after a severe battle with depression amid the early stages of Parkinson's Disease.
As his son Zak said at the time, "the world got a little grayer."
