Fans Shower Melissa McCarthy With Praise for 'Beautiful Issue' Cover
Melissa McCarthy is the cover star of the 2023 "Beautiful Issue" from People magazine.
The magazine shared a look at the cover image and interview with McCarthy on its social media, and people immediately flooded the comments with praise and compliments for the star.
On the cover, McCarthy looks stunning in an extravagant gold gown with sparkling details and a bold gold metallic belt around her waist. She's draped across a pile of neutral-toned pillows on the ground, smiling up at the camera above her.
"In the cover story, McCarthy says she’s keeping it real when it comes to raising her two teen girls — but the best thing about having daughters?" the publication teased in the caption. "'Watching the next generation,' McCarthy shares. 'There's such hope in that they can save us. There's such hope in that they're so much more evolved than I was at that age. My world was so tiny. Watching them navigate a world that's so much more complicated and so much harder. And to do it with such grace and love and care and such empathy for other people... Boy, you don't want to mess with those two if you're doing wrong to good people, they stand up for themselves. And I learn from that every single day.' ??."
Many fans wrote about how much they love McCarthy, with comments like, "Extraordinary woman! ????," "Such a baddie ????," and "Love her, so amazing!!!!"
"She radiates beauty; love and grace ??. Great about her daughters. They get it from their loving family. ??," said another.
A few also called out McCarthy's acting talent and shared how much they adore her work on screen, with a comment reading, "Watch Mike and Molly every night. So damn funny!!!"
For one fan, the choice of McCarthy as the cover model for the "Beautiful Issue" this year convinced them to buy it, as they commented, "Love her!! Definitely will purchase this issue."
Someone else said the same thing, writing, "Damn guess I’m picking up a magazine this week thanks Melissa for making me broke hahah."
In the cover story for the issue, McCarthy shared that she was "incredibly flattered" to be honored in this year's "Beautiful Issue."
"I thought the younger version of myself or everybody out there who isn't the youngest or whatever... I felt like it was saying something really lovely to my younger self, to my 20-year-old self," she said. "And maybe to other people, too."
In the story, McCarthy reflected on her upbringing and developing self-confidence, also talking about what it's like raising her two daughters, Vivian, 15, and Georgette, 13, whom she shares with husband Ben Falcone.
Next up for the actress, she's starring as Ursula in the highly-anticipated live-action adaptation of The Little Mermaid from Disney.
