The first Smalls Sliders restaurant is touching down in Pensacola soon
Smalls Sliders was approved to bring its first shipping-container restaurant to Pensacola by Escambia County’s Development Review Committee on Wednesday.
The Louisiana burger franchise operates its restaurants out of converted shipping containers, but still provides customers with limited outdoor seating options if they opt to eat at the location rather than going through the drive-thru.
The chain teased news last year that they planned to eventually build four locations in the area, but it wasn't until December that they officially began to work with the county on a site.
Developers re-submitted plans for approval on Feb. 14 and the project’s application was discussed by the Development Review Committee on Feb. 28.
Pensacola’s incoming Smalls Sliders project is owned by Matt Gallagher, who signed a deal last year to open three more locations in the Pensacola area.

What’s on the menu?
Smalls Sliders keeps its menu simple by letting customers customize their freshly made sliders and milkshakes with a variety of flavors.
Their standard sliders come with cheese, pickles and their signature “smauce” sauce on a toasted-butter bun.
Combos will range from one to four sliders and include fries with a signature seasoning and more smauce, as well as a drink.
Customers will be able to add bacon to their sliders, get the “Smalls Way” for their fries which includes smauce and queso in addition to doubling their sliders’ patties by getting a “Biggie Smalls.”
Grilled cheeses are also available as a separate menu item, according to their website.
Sweet treats like shakes will also be available at Smalls Sliders in chocolate, vanilla and cookies and cream.
You can even cater from Smalls Sliders using their “Party Packs,” with orders taken in multiples of 25 sliders.
Where’s Smalls Sliders opening?
Smalls Sliders has proposed to create their restaurant in a 1.61-acre parking lot at 5301 N. Davis Highway. Their restaurant is planned to be 930 square feet and provide 32 outdoor seats for customers, according to the project’s site plan filed with Escambia County.
The franchise has not disclosed its plans for the three additional Smalls Sliders locations yet.
What’s Smalls Sliders?
Smalls Sliders was founded in 2019 by Brandon Landry, who is also the owner of Walk-On’s Sports Bistreaux. Walk-On’s Pensacola location closed down last October for undisclosed reasons after only a year of operating on Airport Boulevard.
One of the burger franchise’s intial investors is former New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees, who also worked with Landry to establish the Walk-On’s franchise.
Matt Gallagher is the Smalls Sliders franchisee who is trying to establish the restaurant across the Pensacola area. After working to create four Smalls Sliders locations in Mississippi, Gallagher signed a deal last year to open four “cans,” or locations, in the Pensacola area, according to a press release from Smalls Sliders.
Smalls Sliders has nine cans operating across Louisiana and over 100 units under development in other states including Georgia, South Carolina and Texas.
