Flavor Flav, who has long admired Taylor Swift and her music, shared his honest reaction to the pop star’s new album, The Tortured Poets Department, following its release on Friday, April 19.
Fans around the world eagerly awaited the arrival of Swift’s 11th studio album, which the “Cruel Summer” singer announced while accepting an award onstage at the 2024 Grammys.
Flavor Flav, who supported Swift at her Los Angeles premiere of The Eras Tour concert film, shared his thoughts on the album in response to a tweet that Swift posted minutes after her new music was released. In the tweet, Swift described her new album as an “anthology of new works that reflect events, opinions and sentiments from a fleeting and fatalistic moment in time - one that was both sensational and sorrowful in equal measure.”

The “Lover” singer added that there are “no scores to settle once wounds have healed,” and even admitted that “a good number of them turned out to be self-inflicted.” However, her comments didn’t stop many fans from using social media to target the people they believed to be responsible for the pain reflected in her lyrics.
Flavor Flav jumped into the mix less than 24 hours after the album’s release in a post on X that he shared in response to Swift’s tweet. While the rapper and DJ said he felt like taking action against those who caused her pain, he also recognized the power of her songwriting.
“The best art is created from struggle and sadness,,, da anthology is sad and real and Taylor,,, It makes me wanna punch anyone that hurt that woman’s feelings,,, but no one can punch them worse than Taylor and her piano and pen,” his April 19 tweet said. The Public Enemy member then added that he is “happy she found happiness.”

In the weeks since the “All Too Well” singer announced her new album was on the way, Swifties have worked hard to unearth the kinds of Easter eggs that the “Anti-Hero” songstress has become known for leaving behind.
Though fans initially thought The Tortured Poets Department would focus on her years-long relationship with ex-boyfriend Joe Alwyn, many now believe that it might instead reflect the time she spent with The 1975 frontman Matty Healy.
