Frank Lloyd Wright’s Legacy Lives on in New Collection That Turns Home Office Dreams Into a Reality
The new collection offers a refined and reimagined line of furniture based on Wright's past designs.
Architect Frank Lloyd Wright created a strong legacy that is remembered and admired to this day. While the buildings he designed are well-known and recognizable, his furniture was just as influential.
Now, the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation is teaming up with Steelcase to release a new collection of furniture reimagined from Wright's classic designs.
According to a press release, the new line, called the Frank Lloyd Wright Racine Collection, is directly based on the furniture Wright made for the SC Johnson Administration building in Racine, Wisconsin in 1939, which Steelcase also produced.

In comparison to the original furniture used in the Great Workroom, the press release states that "select Signature pieces will faithfully match the style and finishes of the original furniture, with subtle adjustments to the collection's proportions and scale to support modern living."
The new furniture is perfect for longtime Wright fans and people simply interested in furnishing their office in a unique, stylish way.
"From its beginnings over 80 years ago, Steelcase's relationship with Frank Lloyd Wright has helped to revolutionize design for work," remarked Meghan Dean, General Manager, Ancillary Merchandising and Partnerships at Steelcase. "Now, we continue that mission into the home, as there's never been a better time to revisit design principles that have always been ahead of their time."

The Racine Collection features new sizes with bigger dimensions, different material choices, and "the first-ever public introduction of a lounge chair that Wright designed for the SC Johnson building in 1939."
Stuart Graff, president and CEO of the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation, commented on the innovative collaboration: "Frank Lloyd Wright used design as a means of deepening the relationships between people, nature and place. With the Frank Lloyd Wright Racine Collection and our collaboration with Steelcase, we're excited to expand his vision of an architecture for better living."
The Racine Collection officially launched on Jan. 25 and is available exclusively through store.steelcase.com.
