Fridays in the Park opens for the season

BECKLEY, WV (WVNS) — The summer music series “Fridays in the Park” is now back in swing in Jim Word Memorial Park, opening on Friday, June 7, 2024, with music, food, and fun for kids.

Folks of all ages were out enjoying the sunshine and running into old friends at one of the most beloved summer attractions in the City of Beckley.

People said they look forward to Fridays in the Park throughout the cold weather months, and the first Friday of the season is always a special way to welcome summer.

“It is the first one, and I love it,” said Mike Kincaid, who was at the park on Friday and plans to sing at the event on Friday, June 14, 2024. “I come most of the time, and I think it’s great for the community to have something like this.”

Beckley Events Director Jill Moorefield organizes the concert series and said the opening day was a success.

“I’m so excited to be kicking off the Summer 2024 Fridays in the Park concert series here. We’ve got a beautiful day, couldn’t ask for better weather, sunshine, nice breeze, wonderful music. We’ve got some food vendors, activities for the kids to do,” said Moorefield.
