'Friends' Creators Detail Final Conversation With Late Matthew Perry

Friends creators Marta Kauffman and David Crane are looking back on their last interaction with late star Matthew Perry.
Following the death of the beloved actor, known for his portrayal of Chandler Bing on the hit sitcom Friends, the creators of the show talked to TODAY about their final conversation with Perry, which took place only two weeks before his tragic passing.
"It was great," Kauffman told host Hoda Kotb in the new interview, which will air in full on Wednesday, Nov. 1. "He was happy and chipper."
"He didn’t seem weighed down by anything," she added. "He was in a really good place, which is why this seems so unfair."
Perry died on Saturday, Oct. 28 after he was found unresponsive in his hot tub at his California home. He was 54.
Following the initial news of his passing, the co-creators, along with executive producer Kevin Bright, released an official statement to address the tragic loss, calling it, "The One Where Our Hearts Are Broken."
"We are shocked and deeply, deeply saddened by our beloved friend Matthew’s passing. It still seems impossible," the trio wrote in their message. "All we can say is that we feel blessed to have had him as part of our lives."
They also took a moment to reflect on Perry's role on the sitcom, which ran for 10 seasons from 1994 to 2004, stating, "From the day we first heard him embody the role of Chandler Bing, there was no one else for us."
Perry is now being mourned by friends, family and fans everywhere, including his co-stars Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Matt LeBlanc, Lisa Kudrow and David Schwimmer.
