Frozen Corn and Vegetables Recalled Due to Listeria Concerns
Twin City Foods, Inc, which supplies stores like Food Lion and Kroger with frozen vegetables and frozen corn, is issuing a recall for many of the aforementioned products.
The Washington-based company issued the voluntary recall on Aug. 22, which includes a limited quantity of Not-Ready-To Eat Individually Quick Frozen (IQF) Super Sweet Cut Corn and Mixed Vegetables in retail bags, as they may have been contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, a bacteria that can cause serious and even fatal infections in those with compromised immune systems, including young children and senior citizens. Symptoms include high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, but can also cause miscarriages and stillbirths in pregnant women, according to the FDA.
A variety of sizes and best-by dates for FOOD LION Mixed Vegetables Carrots, Corn, GreenBeans & Peas, FOOD LION Super Sweet Cut Yellow Corn, Kroger Mixed Vegetables Carrots, Super Sweet Corn, Green Beans & Green Peas, Kroger Super Sweet Corn, and Signature Select Golden Corn Super Sweet are included in the notice.

At the time of the announcement, there were no reports of illness related to the affected products.

The recall was initiated due to a 3rd party lab test conducted by one customer on the IQF sweet cut corn, which revealed that the package might contain Listeria monocytogenes.
Consumers who have purchased affected products should not consume them. Instead, discard the packages or return them to the point of purchase for a full refund.
