George W. Bush Speaks Out About Barbara Bush
Just minutes after it was announced that former First Lady Barbara Bush had died, her son, former President George W. Bush, issued a touching statement about his mother.
"Laura, Barbara, Jenna and I are sad," he wrote about his wife and twin daughters, "but our souls are settled because we know her's was."
He continued: "I'm a lucky man Barbara Bush was my mother."
Barbara's death was announced Tuesday night by the office of her husband, former President George H. W. Bush.
The spouse of the 41st President of the United States and parent to the 43rd was a fierce advocate of literacy. She is survived by five children and their spouses, 17 grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren.
George W. Bush's full statement about his mother reads:
My dear mother has passed on at the age of 92. Laura, Barbara, Jenna and I are sad but our souls are settled because we know her's was. Barbara Bush was a fabulous First Lady and a woman unlike any other who brought levity, love, and literacy to millions. To us, she was so much more. Mom kept us on our toes and kept us laughing until the end. I'm a lucky man that Barbara Bush was my mother. Our family will miss her dearly, and we thank you all for your prayers and good wishes.
