Hi foodies,

Fayetteville isn't lacking when it comes to great sandwiches. There's the mac, patty and oxtail sandwich at SimLo's, a wonderful mash-up of Jamaican staples; plussed-up grilled cheeses at Bus Stop Melts food truck; real-deal pastrami at Dogslingers; and artisanal paninis at Pan downtown; to name just a few.

There's a hot new sandwich, however, that's well worth going out of your way for.

Meet the pork schnitzel sandwich from Harmon's Deutsche Kuche, a German food truck that got its start in Fayetteville last month.

The star of the sandwich is pork loin, which is pounded impossibly thin, breaded and fried until golden brown. It's served on brotchen from Superior Bakery, a German roll that is soft but toothsome, and topped generously with creamy, tangy house-made remoulade sauce. Dill, tomato, lettuce and onion, lend a bright note to the savory affair.

Food truck owners Katrina and Mark Harmon said the pork schnitzel sandwich is what put them on the map in Fayetteville, and it's easy to see why.

I just had one for lunch yesterday, and I'm already planning to get another soon.

Want to see what the hype is about?

Harmon's Deutsche Kuche is serving pork schnitzel sandwiches and other German fare from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. today through Sunday at the Lidl grocery store parking lot, 1912 Skibo Road. See their Facebook page for an updated weekly schedule.

Happy eating,

Taylor
