Giada De Laurentiis says she should just get a 'boob job' after struggling to find the right bra
Giada de Laurentiis is opening up about aging, wellness — and bras.
The Food Network icon, 51, spoke with Bobbi Brown on the makeup mogul's iHeartRadio podcast The Important Things, where de Laurentiis got candid about a topic quite literally close to her heart: Her inability to find a well-fitting bra, despite having "thousands" of options in her closet.
"I can't find one that works with everything. They come out in certain sections, it cuts me… I'm going to be completely honest with you, Bobbi, and this is probably TMI, but I should just have a boob job because maybe that would alleviate all the bra wars I have with myself every day," she joked. "It is so hard to find a bra for a woman who does not have implants."
The two agreed that of all celebrities, they would most want the chest of Jennifer Aniston.
In addition to talking about the struggles of finding the right bra, de Laurentiis spoke about how she tries to live a non-toxic lifestyle, which includes the food she eats as well as the makeup she wears. She said she tries to instill those values in her 14-year-old daughter Jade.
"I know my daughter just loves these makeups that have so much pigment but they're so incredibly toxic," she explained to Brown. "And I keep telling her like, you started at an early early age with a bucket, right? And then we spend our whole life filling this bucket with all sorts of toxins — and whether or not your body can detox, some bodies are great at detoxing, some bodies aren't…If you start early, just poisoning, poisoning, poisoning day in and day out, by the time you're my age."
She also shared that she has changed her workout routine up in order to take care of her body.
"I used to do a lot of cardio," she shared. "I was like a slave to all the machines and all that stuff. Nowadays, I can't do quite as much anymore of that. So I do a lot of yoga — I do that five days a week, which I really like. Strength training, which is really good for me since I'm little. I like to paddle, paddle surf on the ocean, since I live by the water, and I walk a lot, a lot —not run, but walk. I think for me, moderate exercise — you know, like 30 minutes a day, five days a week — is better than two hours three times a week. I just can't I can't recoup from it."
De Laurentiis also shared the biggest lesson she learned in her lifetime, which is to accept who you are.
"I think for a long time I tried to be who everybody else wanted to be, whether it was my family or my fans or whatever," she admitted. "In the last five or six years, I've said, you know what, 'I'm OK with who I am regardless of what people think of me. And I'm OK with the choices that I've made.' Have they all been wonderful and perfect? No, but they made me who I am. I've sort of made peace with everything that's happened in my life — with my divorce, with anything that's happened. I have made peace with the mistakes. And I think I feel a lot calmer about myself."
