Gigi Hadid is slamming a journalist who made an anti-Muslim remark in the wake of the New York City terror attacks: “You’re a f***ing moron.”

On Wednesday, journalist Laura Loomer tweeted a photo of female pedestrians wearing headscarves while walking the streets of New York with the caption, “You’d think they’d have the decency to not walk around in hijabs @ cross street of the attack. But they don’t. I bet they’re loving this.”

Hadid, who recently celebrated the Muslim holiday Eid al-Adha with her boyfriend Zayn Malik, shared Loomer’s tweet and wrote, “Laura, I hate to give you the attention, but I need to tell you – you’re a f***ing moron.”

Hadid’s tweet was shared more than 13,000 times and liked nearly 50,000 times by her supporters.

On Tuesday, eight people were killed on a bike path in downtown Manhattan by a Home Depot truck driven by a 29-year-old man from Uzbekistan named Sayfullo Saipoy, who also hit a school bus, injuring two adults and two children. Saipoy fled on foot, waving paint guns and a pellet and was chased by an officer who shot him. He was subsequently hospitalized with injuries.

At an evening press conference, Mayor Bill de Blasio called the event “an act of terror,” adding that it was “a particularly cowardly act of terror aimed at innocent civilians, aimed at innocent people going about their lives.” And NYPD deputy commissioner John Miller said in a news conference that Saipoy “did this in the name of ISIS.”

Many of Loomer’s own followers condemned her remarks, along with other controversial tweets she sent Tuesday. Yahoo Lifestyle could not reach Loomer for comment.

Earlier this year, Gigi’s sister Bella Hadid responded to President Trump‘s travel ban, which included Muslim-majority countries, by telling Porter magazine, “I am proud to be a Muslim.” And in February, both sisters participated in a #NoBanNoWall protest.
