Girl gets voicemail tattoo in memory of late grandmother — and it can be played out loud

It’s hard to know how to cope when you lose a loved one. When you realize you’ll never hear their voice or see them again, it can be difficult to move on. But one girl found the perfect way to keep her late grandmother with her at all times, even after she’d passed away.

Sakyrah Morris lost her grandma when she was a student. Wanting to commemorate her somehow, she decided to get a tattoo.

Instead of getting her grandmother’s name or date of birth inked, Morris took it one step further.

“My grandma passed away my junior year of high school. A month before she passed, she left me a voicemail wishing me happy birthday. Today I got that exact waveform tattooed across my heart, and I am able to play it just by holding my camera over it,” she tweeted.

Listening back to a voicemail on her iPhone, Morris used sound wave technology to convert the message into waves.

The wave pattern was tattooed onto her chest, and using an app called Skin Motion, Morris can now hold her phone over the waves and hear her grandmother’s voice whenever she likes.

So far, her tweet has been viewed more than one million times with over 77,000 retweets.

Who knows, maybe one day soon we’ll all be walking around with sound wave tattoos of our loved ones.
