'GMA' Anchors Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes Deactivate Instagram Accounts Amid Romance Rumors
Their alleged secret romance was made public by The Daily Mail.
Good Morning America is at the center of a scandal involving two of its co-hosts.
One of the top headlines of the day revealed that co-anchors Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes have been secretly dating.
The news of their relationship was first made public by The Daily Mail, which noted that the co-hosts were involved “in a passionate romance despite both being married to their respective spouses for the past 12 years."
The outlet backed up the claims with photos they snapped of the couple spending time together at a bar, holding hands in a car, and cozying up to each other on a trip upstate prior to Thanksgiving.
After the affair news began circulating online, both Robach and Holmes were said to have deactivated their Instagram accounts, which are still both currently unavailable.
However, a source cleared up the misconception to PEOPLE, explaining that the duo did not begin dating until after they were separated from their respective spouses. The source added that there was no “overlap” between their romance and their marriages.
"This was two consenting adults who were each separated. They both broke up with their spouses in August within weeks of each other," the source revealed.
"She's got nothing to hide. They were both separated so they felt very comfortable dating in the open after that. Their spouses had moved out, even! So they were not hiding anything," the insider claimed.
Robach, 49, has been married to Andrew Shue, while Holmes, 45, is married to Marilee Fiebig. Both couples tied the knot in 2010. Holmes is also a dad of three—he shares one child, Sabine, with Fiebig, and two kids, Brianna and Jaiden, with his first wife, Amy Ferson. Robach shares two daughters, Ava and Annie, with ex Tim Macintosh.
While the romance reportedly comes as a bit of a surprise, the source said the chemistry has been evident in the newsroom for quite some time, noting that there were even “rumors that they were having an affair about a year ago.”
Robach’s rumored estranged husband, Shue, has not spoken out, but The Melrose Place alum, 55, removed all photos with Robach from his Instagram account just as the news broke.
It’s unclear if the journalists will address their supposed romance upon their return to the GMA news desk.
